We came across a couple of beers from Kills Boro Brewing Co. in the beer fridge. We hadn’t heard of the brewery before and Humblebrag‘s Instagram story themed label really caught our eye so we decided to give them a try. I used to really enjoy rye IPAs, but they don’t show up on the market that often anymore so I was excited to try this one this one that was also double dry hopped. The brewery’s location on Staten Island, where my father-in-law grew up, is also a draw for us since we haven’t had any beer from there before.
Brewery: Kills Boro Brewing Co. (Staten Island, NY)
Rating: 88/100
Comments: Humblebrag pours an opaque straw color with abundant foamy white head. Clean orange citrus, mango, pineapple, and melon make up the aroma. The flavor is tropical like the aroma, with the addition of just a little spice from the rye. It has a moderate body and the flaked oats give it a creamy mouthfeel. It has fairly low carbonation. I have had a few different rye IPAs so far and this is definitely one of the best ones I’ve tried.
staten island has a long history of breweries. welcome to the new wave!
