I got this beer at one of my favorite drinking establishments – The Skellduggery. I should explain though. The Skellduggery is my father-in-law’s garage – you see, a Skell is slang for a vagrant or small-time criminal sometimes used in the New York City area, especially Staten Island which is where he’s from. Also, his name is Doug. Are you starting to put it all together now? Well, anyway…there’s always a menu hanging on the door to the kitchen from the garage displaying the cans on display. Upper Pass always brew solid beers, and (like this other recent review) this Wellie Nelson IPA uses a hop varietal from New Zealand and, BONUS, has a cute pup and bright colors on the can.
Brewery: Upper Pass Beer Co. (South Royalton, VT)
Rating: 87/100
Comments: Wellie Nelson IPA, brewed with Nelson Sauvin hops, pours a semi-hazy golden color with a finger and a half of white head that leaves decent lacing on the glass. The aroma is pretty light, but there are notes of pineapple and grapefruit. It’s very lightly bitter and creamy. The taste is of sweet pineapple and pear. It’s a perfect IPA for sipping in the backyard on a warm day.
Thanks for the bump! Though I believe the correct spelling is: “SkellDougery” 🙂
We couldn’t remember if it was Dougery or duggery! Haha
