Great Notion Big Papaya

Great Notion beers aren’t available where we’re at in New York very often so when I saw that there were four Great Notion beers being released at one store, I ran over to pick them up over my lunch hour. Unfortunately, since they’re so limited here, I was only able to get one can of each that was released. Big Papaya was the second one from the pack that we opened and, wow, it’s a papaya flavor bomb.

Comments: Big Papaya is a tart ale with, you guessed it, papaya. It pours a mostly clear amber color with pretty active off-white head. The aroma is a blast of tropical fruitiness with papaya being the obvious star. I also pick up notes of pineapple and honeydew melon. The beer is tart, but it’s an absolute papaya bomb and that sweetness balances the tartness wonderfully. It finishes with a touch of saltiness. There’s no question about it, Big Papaya is absolutely delicious!
