Our regular readers will know that if we see a can of Beer Tree that we haven’t tried, we buy it. High Summit, a Double New England Style IPA, is another piece of evidence that Beer Tree is fantastic at making solid hazy IPAs. Also, I love the mountain theme on the can. It reminds me of the Geography of the American West class I took in college and all of the books about mountains we read. In addition to the textbook, we read Lost Horizon by James Hilton. I highly recommend it to anyone that hasn’t read it.
Brewery: Beer Tree Brew Co. (Port Crane, NY)
Rating: 93/100
Comments: High Summit pours a hazy light gold color with creamy white head. The aroma is light and refreshing with dominant citrus and sweet tropical fruit notes. The flavor follows the aroma with juicy tropical fruit, while the mouthfeel is creamy and smooth. It’s fairly light-bodied with low to moderate carbonation. What I love about this beer is that the flavor is strong enough to taste clearly, but it’s restrained enough that it doesn’t wear you out. This was an absolute pleasure to drink!
