Modist Bite Size Peanut Butter Coffee Stout

I mean, come on – if you’re a fan of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and you see this can of beer on the shelf, there’s zero chance you’re going to pass it up. I’m a peanut butter addict, so I’m glad that Modist decided to do a Reese’s version of their Bite Size series of pastry stouts. Also, I just want to point out that it’s definitely pronounced “Reese-is”, not “Rees-ees”.

Brewery: Modist Brewing Co. (Minneapolis, MN)

Rating: 84/100

Comments: Bite Size is a chocolate stout brewed with Reese’s Peanut Butter cups, coffee, and Ghanaian cocoa nibs. It pours a thick black color and leaves what looks like bits of peanut butter cup on the rim of the glass. The aroma is coffee-forward with chocolate and peanut butter in the background. Coffee is also the strongest flavor, with the chocolate notes coming through later in the taste and some subtle peanut butter in the aftertaste. It’s smooth and surprisingly light-bodied for a stout, with low carbonation. The peanut butter flavor isn’t as strong as I had hoped, but it’s a pretty good coffee stout.
