I noticed that Rare Form was offering mixed 4 packs of cans through their to-go menu, and there were a couple included that I hand’t tried. Practically Magic, a coconut lime sour, was one of the ones on offer that I was excited to try.
It seems like everyone has that one food or ingredient that they absolutely despise and there’s no hiding it from them. Coconut was that ingredient for me. Growing up, just about every dessert my grandma made included coconut. Even though she knew that I hated coconut, she’d tell me, “You can’t taste it – just try it.” Every time, I’d take one bite and stop eating immediately. I’m still sort of that way about coconut, but it’s growing on me as an ingredient in beer.

Comments: This coconut lime sour pours a light golden color with active white head that dissipates almost immediately. The coconut and lime aromas are big, effervescent, and punchy, almost reminiscent of a Piña colada on the beach. The flavor is incredibly coconut forward and only moderately sour. The lime serves as a counterbalance to cut the heavy coconut flavor. It’s light-bodied and pretty well carbonated. It’s a pleasantly drinkable sour and I think it achieves what it set out to do.
