One of the biggest sacrifices of being a transplant, outside of being away from friends and family, is that there are so many restaurants, breweries, and other brands that I grew up with and love that I just don’t have access to where I live now – Braum’s, I need you – but I’m so glad I can get Prairie Artisan Ales here in New York. This brewery out of Tulsa consistently puts out some of my favorite beers. I would have said that they were best at stouts with their amazing Bible Belt stout, but lately they’ve done some of my favorite complex sours. Millennial Mansion is the latest of their selection.
Brewery: Prairie Artisan Ales (Tulsa, OK)
Rating: 93/100
Comments: This imperial sour ale pours a clear dark cherry color with about a finger of quickly dissipating pinkish head. The aroma is of cherries, blueberries, lime juice, and marshmallow. The flavor is similar to the aroma, with the taste of blueberry up front, closely followed by cherry, lime, and orange. There’s a nice touch of marshmallow and salt to round off the drinking experience at the end. This is another great, complex sour made by the deft hands at Prairie Artisan.
