Beer Tree Morning Timber

The large majority of what we’ve tried from Beer Tree have been New England IPAs, but if you remember from our review of Fika they make seriously good stouts as well. Morning Timber (haha) is a breakfast stout conditioned on vanilla beans. You know when you eat or drink something that’s sort of transcendent and you get that little chill run down your spine as you enjoy it and realize how good it is? It doesn’t happen often so you remember when it does happen. This breakfast stout did that to me. I savored every last drop of this one.

Brewery: Beer Tree Brew Co. (Port Crane, NY)

Rating: 98/100

Comments: Morning Timber pours an opaque black color with semi-creamy light tan head. I immediately picked up on maple syrup, vanilla, milk chocolate, and light coffee notes in the aroma. The flavor is comparable to your first bite of chocolate chip pancakes covered in butter and syrup after a sip of coffee. It’s sweet with milk chocolate and maple syrup, smooth with vanilla bean, and a little roasty with coffee at the back end. I’m a big fan of Beer Tree’s IPAs, but I might be an even bigger fan of their stouts. Another gold star to them.
