It can be easy to overlook breweries like Lamplighter Brewing Company when you’re in the vicinity of Tree House and Trillium, but you should definitely give their stuff a try. Birds of a Feather is the second beer I’ve tried from the Cambridge, MA brewers and, while not perfect, it’s the second IPA from them that has been really solid. Plus, it has great art on the can – always a plus for me.
Oh, and did you notice the shaker pint glass we used in the photo? My wife knocked Christmas out of the park, per usual, and gave me some beautiful glassware and clothing with the logo on them so be on the lookout for more of those.
Brewery: Lamplighter Brewing Co. (Cambridge, MA)
Rating: 84/100
Comments: This IPA pours a moderately hazy golden color with a reasonable amount of bubbly white head that dissipated quickly. The aroma is wonderfully old school, with strong notes of grassy and piney hops. The taste replicates the aroma, but also includes mango and grapefruit. It’s low to medium-bodied and moderately carbonated. Despite not being as juicy and hazy as a traditional New England IPA, it is still an enjoyable beer.
