Prairie Artisan Ales Seasick Crocodile

A few years ago, I was sent to Tulsa for several days for work. Despite having grown up only a couple of hours away from the city, I had never actually visited it before. My mom drove down with me to explore the city in the evenings and on the weekend, and we had a fantastic time! Prairie Artisan Ales was one of the places we knew to visit because it is easily the best known brewery in Tulsa. I have liked every beer I have had from them, so I had to grab this Christmas-inspired sour ale, Seasick Crocodile, when I saw it.

Brewery: Prairie Artisan Ales (Tulsa, OK)

Rating: 96/100

Comments: Seasick Crocodile is a sour ale with cranberries, ginger, cinnamon, and nutmeg. It pours a light ruby, almost grapefruit-like, color. Nutmeg is the most upfront aroma, but you definitely also smell the cinnamon and ginger. While the aroma is great, the taste is even better. It’s not overpoweringly sour. There are some wonderfully balanced spice notes and sweet berry flavors, with the ginger coming in the aftertaste. It’s light-bodied and moderately carbonated with a medium-dry finish. I visited Prairie Artisan Ales last time I was in Tulsa and they’ve absolutely knocked this Christmas sour ale out of the park.
