Rare Form Moxie

My wife and I moved to New York about a year ago, but I moved up here a month before her so I had quite a lot of time to myself. It’s probably not surprising, but I used that time to check out the local watering holes, restaurants, and breweries. Rare Form was the second brewery I went to (mostly because of how the opening hours worked out), and I was impressed right away and have continued to be since.

When the lockdown started, Rare Form started to deliver beer around the city using their awesome vintage van, “White Lightning”, and I immediately ordered from them. Moxie was in my order because it’s absolutely one of my favorite local beers for when I’m hanging out at home.

Brewery: Rare Form Brewing Co. (Troy, NY)

Rating: 96/100

Comments: This Imperial IPA pours a hazy golden-orange color with abundant white, foamy head that has great retention. The aroma is of orange juice and tangerine, with hints of melon and pine underlying those more tropical citrus notes. The taste has a lot of orange citrus, some melon, and a bit of grapefruit. It has a smooth and creamy mouthfeel with a decent bite of bitterness at first. Moxie is highly drinkable and one of my go-to beers to always have around the house.
