Penguins in…

Kings County Brewers Collective has quickly become a brewery that I trust since I moved to New York, and they have a Penguins Session IPA series that really intrigued me so I picked up two of them – Penguins in Space and Penguins in Hyperspace. There are a couple others but I haven’t tried them yet.

Brewery: Kings County Brewers Collective (Brooklyn, NY)

Penguins in Space Rating: 83/100

Comments: Brewed with 2-Row and Vienna malt, flaked wheat and flaked rye, along with Mosaic, Motueka, and Centennial hops. Pours a hazy, light golden color with white, foamy head that left some good lacing on the glass. The aroma has sweet pineapple with a little bit of lime, which is reflected in the flavor, though the lime is stronger in the flavor than in the aroma. Medium bodied mouthfeel.

Penguins in Hyperspace Rating: 86/100

Comments: This session IPA is brewed with a new experimental blend of lupulin-concentrated cryo hops (TRI2304CR). Pours a semi-hazy yellow with about a finger of frothy white head. The aroma is quite fruity with lemon, orange citrus, lime, and pineapple. The beer is medium-bodied and slightly creamy; moderately juicy with a dry finish. The taste has lemon, sweet pineapple, and a bit of orange. Solid session IPA.
