Frog Alley Wit Your Mom Witbier

I’ve been reviewing (and drinking) a lot of New England IPAs recently – reflecting the current craft beer market – but I was really looking forward to this witbier from another brewery within a half-hour drive from my apartment. Frog Alley’s Wit Your Mom is a good example of a witbier, and a refreshing summer beer that I’d definitely recommend to anyone looking for something to get away from the juice bombs and try something more classic.

This picture ended up being harder to take than we predicted.

Brewery: Frog Alley Brewing (Schenectady, NY)

Rating: 88/100

Comments: This Belgian-style witbier pours a beautiful, clear light-golden color. There was a fizzy, thin white head but it disappeared almost instantly. The aroma hits first with pepper and some floral spiciness, followed by a touch of sweet honey. The mouthfeel is smooth and slightly creamy, with a medium-light body and good carbonation. The flavor is pleasantly sweet but has elements of herbal spice weaving through. The sweet honey and slight orange peel flavor lingers late on my tongue.
