My father-in-law travels down to West Point for an Army football game every year with some of his buddies, typically stopping at a brewery or two on the way there or back, and The Peekskill Brewery is one they’ve stopped by and mentioned to me. When I saw a 6-pack of their Valley Life New England IPA on the shelf at my local bottle shop, I had to snatch it up since I haven’t been able to make it to the brewery yet.
The name refers to the Hudson River Valley, where Peekskill is located. I can tell you from experience, the Hudson Valley has a feeling all its own. It’s the sort of place that instantly lets you relax. Perhaps it’s because it’s just outside of the hustle and bustle of New York City – but you’d have to visit to find out for yourself.

Brewery: The Peekskill Brewery (Peekskill, NY)
Rating: 84/100
Comments: Valley Life pours a relatively clear, pale gold color. It has a grassy hop aroma with subtle citrus. There is an assertive hop bitterness, and the flavor is a bit piney with some grapefruit notes. It’s really refreshing, and a great find if you’re looking to avoid another overt juice bomb – this won’t give you hop-burn. Really well balanced, well-made beer.
