Põhjala Must Kuld

Must Kuld, an American porter brewed by Estonian brewery Põhjala, lives up to its name – Black Gold.

The beer pours almost black into the glass and has a pleasing silky texture and mouthfeel thanks to the lactose during the brewing process. Its aroma has undertones of chocolate and sweet honey, but leads with wonderfully roasted coffee notes.

Must Kuld is a beer packed with complex flavors yet remains well-balanced and easy to drink. Idt tastes of dark chocolate and roasted coffee but I found that the sweetness of the dried fruit notes were the component that kept me coming back for more.

I drank this beer on a mild summer afternoon here in Northern Virginia and found it very refreshing and enjoyable, but it finds itself as a fireside drink on a drizzly fall day in my imagination.
