Here’s a great offering from Tallgrass Brewing Company in Manhattan, Kansas. 8-Bit Pale Ale is a beer that has gotten some people really excited, and not only because of the awesome, throwback can. They’ve used Galaxy Hops, which are a citrus-strong hop variety out of Australia which doesn’t disappoint.
8-Bit pours a bright, hazy orange-golden color and smells of honey, flowers and citrus fruits. Basically, it smells like what spring and summer should smell like. The taste is a little bit grassy with sweet honey and some citrus flavors at the end. The hops allow for a slight bitterness that makes the beer refreshing in the middle and extremely easy to drink, and there is enough malt in it to balance it out and avoid becoming too IPA-like. It’s a good thing it comes in a large can, because you’ll be asking for more of it.
This is one of several beers from Tallgrass that has achieved the 90s on my ratings scale. Looking forward to trying even more!
Overall: 91/100
